The Lower East Side has a storied history, from the crowded tenements of the 19th century, to the punk squatters of the 1980s and 90s. These days you can always find good music, food and drink, and art in the LES, and this pop up gallery space for rent on Allen Street feels right at home.
You can’t go hungry here with the likes of Katz’s Deli and Russ and Daughters nearby, and with bars like 169 and Ten Bells, the neighborhood is always busy. Some of the best musicians you’ve never heard of play at Rockwood Music Hall, and the ones you have heard head to places like Mercury Lounge and the Bowery Ballroom. On Saturday and Sundays, people head to brunch and in the evenings bars like Pianos and Beauty & Essex fill up with a slightly young crowd. The F train at 2nd Ave is just a minute away.
Within a couple minutes in either direction you have restaurants like The Meatball Shop, Pizza Beach, Kaikagetsu, Ms. Yoo. There are plenty of bars, but some of the best are Marshall Stack, Copper & Oak, Ludlow House, and Antler. The Tenement, New, and International Center of Photography Museums are all nearby as well.
The space is small and cozy, but is in great shape and in a busy location.
