Welcome to Crown Heights, a place where stoop life thrives and the community pride runs high for the neighboring home of Biggie Smalls. Recent years have seen an influx of local, millennial-driven boutiques and bars, and no street wears the blend better than Bedford Avenue: a stretch where mom-and-pop shops hold their own beside concept stores like Marché Rue Dix (cue the artisan teas and tote bags). The exposed brick, beams, and a wooden mezzanine in this event space will make for some instant street-cred (and nostalgia).

Mostly a for-locals-by-locals vibe. Families head to the nearby Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Public Library, and Zoo during the mid-morning and late-afternoon, while weekend tourists head to and from the Brooklyn Museum to soak-in “The Dinner Party” by Judy Chicago. By 5 o’clock, twentysomethings flock to the area’s many converted-industrial-space bars and restaurants. Neighborhood classics include cajun kitchen Catfish, Berg’n, and Chavela’s for some solid Mexican soul-food.

You’re across the street from New Life Tabernacle, and share the block with a few working offices and the highly talked about Café Rue Dix (not to be confused with its neighbor, Marché Rue Dix), a French-Senegalese restaurant that pays homage to the area’s cultural roots.
