For decades, this building on Bowery was somewhat of a mystery to New Yorkers. At the time, it was covered in graffiti and inhabited by the reclusive photographer Jay Maisel. Passersby would guess what was inside.

Today, it's no secret that this space is enormous and beautiful with two floors and a mezzanine. High ceilings, marble walls, and hardwood floors give the room an old-school New York glamor. And the arched windows give the space lots of natural light and grandeur. Off of the main entrance are stairs to a basement with five rooms, three restrooms, and the original bank safe.

This part of Lower Manhattan is at the center of Little Italy, SoHo, and the Lower East Side and has access to several trains and buses, including the F train. That means the streets are constantly busy with everyone from tourists visiting the Tenement Mueseum and locals grabbing a pie at Lombardi's.
