Just south of the River Thames is the busy Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre. Built in 1965, the building is brutalist in design and was the first covered shopping mall in Europe. Previously used as an Asian supermarket, this space is suitable for a variety of retail projects.
Bright and large, the space is fitted with fluorescent lighting and nine shop windows. It's available in a reasonable condition, but could benefit from some updating. Set on a corner next to the escalators, it's advantageously positioned to attract shoppers.
Brutalist buildings such as the South Bank Centre and the National Theatre are juxtaposed against the contemporary London Eye and The Shard. Popular with tourists, this corner of South-East London is saturated with modern cultural intrigue. Served by excellent transport links (tube, rail, and local bus services), this is an up-and-coming area especially popular with locals.
Any redecoration of the space must be pre-approved by the Landlord.
