THE CROWD

One of Manhattan’s grittier areas, the Lower East Side has a long history of being a workingman’s neighborhood. Some of the grit is still there, but there’s charm in the old fire escapes and graffitti, as well as the fish markets, bodegas, and art galleries. Essex Street is always busy, be it daytime shoppers or night owls heading to the many bars. You’ll be a couple minutes from the East Broadway and Delancey Street F Train stops.
