Aperçu

The Grade I-listed Geffrye Museum was built in 1714 as almshouses for the Ironmonger's Company. Until its conversion to a museum in 1914, residents were required to attend the chapel -which pre-dates even the original building - every Sunday. Along with the reading room, this space is now available to host memorable events in this busy urban location.

The two rooms together make a striking impression; each with a wealth of period features. The reading room is spacious, welcoming and flexible, with high ceilings and a number of original paintings. The chapel has distinctive tiled flooring, original wooden booths, and large arched windows flooding it with natural light.

Between Dalston and Shoreditch on the busy Kingsland Road, the Geffrye Museum is in a popular location. The East London line runs behind the museum and Hoxton station is a four minute walk. The area is full of bars and restaurants in all directions.
