The kind of fresh, independent ideas you’d expect from hipster Hoxton sit side by side with old school East End businesses on this lively Hackney street, also home to the borough’s oldest market. THE CROWD

While you’ll still see some long-term local residents dining on pie and mash at F Cooke and shopping in Hoxton Street’s convenience stores, this is more the stomping ground of media and tech professionals and City workers thanks to an increasing number of luxury flats popping up along the road. Hoxton Street’s market and cafés are well used by locals on weekdays, while the likes of The Ginger Pig Café, sustainable restaurant Cub and pub Howl at the Moon keep things lively in the evenings, especially Thursdays through Saturdays. Saturdays are also when Hoxton Street Market’s at its busiest. Hoxton station is an eight-minute walk away.
