Slicing through Hackney from Cambridge Fields to Clapton, Mare Street is awash with shops, bars and eateries that cater to this neighbourhood’s hipster millennials and long-time locals alike. This large, industrial-style retail space is close to London Fields and Mare Street Market, with large windows facing out onto an ever-busy stretch of this main road.

THE CROWD

This is Hackney’s high street in everything but name, so it’s never really quiet here. With Mare Street Market, Netil House and London Fields’ hub of interesting businesses all nearby, expect to see plenty of young creative types around, plus a fair few fashion-focused students from the London College of Fashion campus down the road. The likes of Wringer + Mangle and Martello Hall keep things lively until late in the evenings, especially Fridays and Saturdays. London Fields station is a four-minute walk.

You’ll be on the ground floor of a new housing development, with cocktail and pizza place Martello Hall on the corner facing you. Over on the other side of Mare Street is a Texaco petrol station and a Mace mini-supermarket.
