Old Street may neighbour trendy Shoreditch, but it's fast becoming a key destination in its own right. With tech city buzzing overhead, Old Street station is home to East London's latest retail and catering ideas. There's an ever changing selection of up and coming brands based in the station tunnels, and now an opportunity for a restaurant to take up residence in this unusual space.

These disused toilets, built into the station in 1901, have been out of use since the 1930s. Now, they’re ready to play host to fresh new ideas. The beautiful tiling is original throughout, and the floors are also tiled. This space would make a great location for a food and drink concept, though a kitchen will need to be installed first. Its two long and narrow rooms are ideal for tables and seating, and overall the space feels well suited to hosting a chef's residency.

A few minutes' walk of Shoreditch High Street and Great Eastern Street, this area is especially busy on weekends. Angel and Barbican stations are not far, and Old Street itself is on the Northern Line.

THE CROWD

Old Street Station sees thousands of commuters a day, a lot of whom are forward thinkers, early adopters and working in some of the city’s most exciting start-ups. Watch as they break their daily commute with a bit of unexpected retail therapy. They’re looking for quick and easy purchases – a good chance to offer commuters a quick pick-me-up or something to help kick-start their day. Peak travel times are between 8-10am and 5-8pm during the working week.
