While we’re uncertain about Streatham High Road’s claim to be Europe’s longest high street, what we do know is this busy main road is home to over 400 businesses, ranging from well-known names to independent shops, bars and restaurants. THE CROWD
Streatham has shrugged off its “scruffy” image, and is attracting more and more commuters and young families priced out of nearby Tooting and Clapham. As this south London neighbourhood’s high street, Streatham High Road is pretty busy all week round, but busier over the weekends as more people come out to eat and drink. Evenings can be a little quiet at the start of the week, but bars such as Pratts and Payne liven things up on Friday and Saturday nights. Streatham Hill and Streatham stations are both around 13 minutes’ walk away.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS
You’ll be in between Vietnamese restaurant Tam and a jewellery and accessories shop. Pratts and Payne is housed in an old art deco department store up the road.
