Doga goes Underground

This week Old Street Station hosted the craziest idea yet - Doga, which is yoga for you and your dog.

It is believed that Doga is supposed to reduce stress and anxiety and help both owners and their pooches relax by slowing their breathing. This is turn improves both species’ immune systems.

This was too good an opportunity to miss, so we sent our Head of Creative Retail, Lucy Johnston and her whippet Beau along to try it out.

Under the expert direction of Europe’s first Doga instructor and founder of Doga Mahny, Mahny Djahanguiri, they were instructed in traditional Yoga asanas, postures and breathing practices. They also got to witness the World's first Doga Trance Dance performance with Robbie the Maltese Terrier!

"Trying out Doga in Old Street Station is definitely one of the more eccentric things I’ve tried, but I’m so glad I did. It’s brilliant how the station is introducing all these unexpected experiences.

I’m not sure my whippet Beau quite understood the point of the downward dog, but he got into the vibe by the end and was fast asleep and meditating on my lap!"

The session is part a series of interactive events designed to champion creative culture in the capital, hosted by Eventbrite for #BriteSpaceLdn. We’ll be hosting our own breakfast session here on Friday 17th October "Making Ideas Happen in the Underground." Book your tickets here.
