Kingsland Road may still have its fair share of pound shops and greasy spoons, but you’re now likely to stumble across a boutique store and speakeasy bar. A couple of minutes’ walk from the Haggerston stretch of the Regents Canal is this former cafe, now available as a pop-up retail or cafe concept. Freshly decorated and well-lit, the space also has a basement.

THE CROWD

Haggerston is home to a young creative community, especially around the canal-side studios and galleries. Daytimes are quiet; it’s the rush hours, evenings and weekends that see Haggerston come to life as residents travel to and from work or enjoy the area’s shopping, drinking and dining scenes. There’s a bus stop outside the shop and Haggerston Overground is a five-minute walk away.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS

This space sits next to a nail salon and hairdressers. A few doors down, The Kings Head may look boarded up, but it’s actually a members’ club for people working in the creative industries. Over the road, La Cabina serves cocktails and tapas until late.
