The Five at Five: Natasha Vigille

21 oct. 2021

From hidden-gems to places to people-watch, from bookshops to beauty spots – here is some inspiration, celebrating the independents in our local neighborhoods around the world.

This week’s selection has been curated by Natasha Vigille, the founder of Black Wall Street, which opens its doors in London this week with Appear Here. The Afrocentric retail store, exhibition and business development hub also plays host to a series of London-based events created to showcase Black-owned business, spread brand awareness, business knowledge and the message of collaboration.

On launching her business, Natasha stated that, “the number of Black-owned businesses has increased in recent years and today they make an important contribution to the booming online sales revolution.” And her new store in Camden is providing an IRL space for those businesses to grow.

FOR FOOD
That would have to be The Good Earth in Knightsbridge, London. It's a long established Chinese restaurant with classic and modern dishes in a simple, traditional setting.

FOR PEOPLE-WATCHING
That's super easy... My favourite place to people watch is from behind the cash desk of my own store, Black Wall Street London, the Afrocentric retail store, showcasing Black-owned businesses, situated in the heart of Camden Town.

FOR MUSIC
My favourite music spot at the moment is Bandjamm... A platform that supports creative art, and brings raw vibes to the only living room with a live band.

You can find their events at The Others in Hackney.

FOR WELLNESS
Tulum, Mexico is my home away from home.

Tulum is a town on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Great beaches, amazing creative talent, fabulous food and a Mecca of wellness.
